- Place cues in their line of sight
Not too high or low, especially if your loved one is using a wheelchair. - Link colors to certain areas of the house
For example, blue for the bathroom, green for their bedroom, and orange for the kitchen. - Use matte laminating paper
High gloss lamination can be difficult to look at for seniors with dementia due to its reflective surface. - Give directions around the house
Add arrows around the house to guide your loved ones where they need to go. For example, if a bathroom is down the hall, add an arrow on the wall and a toilet image next to it. Add a toilet sign on the bathroom door, too.
